In the evening yesterday and again this morning three sea lions were basking in the sun.
I think these are two adults and one pup. The adults spent long intervals just laying in the water, head down, while the smaller one kept popping his head up as if he was wondering why are we wasting time here.
Sea lions have high foreheads and elongated fore flippers. Seals are usually solitary.
When I see a seal, it is usually just a small shiny head peeking above the water for a short look around, then slides back under the surface.
I'd welcome any comments that would help distinguish the them.
